ICRP membership operates on four year terms, with the next term being July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2017. Nominations for ICRP Committee membership for the coming term were accepted from October to December 2012. Nearly 200 nominations were received. ICRP wishes to thank all of those who expressed an interest in contributing to the work of ICRP through their nomination.
The ICRP Main Commission reviewed all of these nominations in detail, considering primarily what each candidate could contribute to the ICRP programme of work in the coming term. Other considerations included geographical balance, breadth of different types of experience, and a combination of new and continuing members. This was a challenge, as so many high-quality nominations were received for a limited number of positions.
During the most recent ICRP Main Commission meeting, held April 15-18, 2013, a voting procedure was used to select Committee members for the coming term from among the pool of candidates. The result, shown below, is that nearly half of the committee members will be new in the next term.
All nominations received will be retained for consideration as particular expertise is sought to contribute to ICRP Task Groups.
