Dr. Kotaro Ozasa graduated from Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine in 1981, obtained a medical doctor license, and received training in internal medicine, then graduated from Graduate School of Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine with specialty in social medicine and obtained a PhD degree in 1989. He served as a teacher in epidemiology and public health at his alma mater until 2008. Dr. Ozasa is currently the Chief of Department of Epidemiology, Radiation Effects Research Foundation (RERF), Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, since 2008, and is serving for follow-up studies of atomic bomb survivors and their children. He is a member of the Committee 1 of the International Commission on Radiological Protection (2017-2021) and a member of the Japanese delegation to the UNSCEAR (2013, 2018-present).
